Obagi Blue Peel is an FDA approved specialist skin peel carried out by medical professionals and is available at Whitethorn Fields MediClinic, Aylesbury. It is normally used in conjunction with the Obagi NuDerm skin system.
Obagi Blue Peel is recommended for:
- Moderate to severe pigmentation
- Acne scars
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Skin laxity
- Sun damage
Obagi Blue Peel is suitable for use on the face, neck, chest, arms, legs and hands.
Obagi Blue Peel contains a chemical called trichloroacetic acid (TCA) combined with blue glycerine which slows down the rate of penetration allowing the practitioner to regulate the depth of the peel. TCA can remove old, damaged skin cells to allow newer, healthier ones to come to the surface.
Obagi Blue Peel – The Results
The results of the Obagi Blue Peel should be seen after just a few days with optimum results being seen at 4-6 weeks. The aim is for firmer, clearer, smoother and healthier looking skin. We recommend a course of 3 Obagi Blue Peels for best results.
The procedure takes approximately 20-30 minutes to perform depending on how many layers are required (this varies from person to person). After application of the Blue Peel you will feel a mild burning and prickling sensation which generally only lasts for a few minutes. Afterwards your skin will be red with a bluish tint which will wash off within 24 hours. The skin may also feel tight due to slight swelling which generally lasts less than 24 hours. After 2-3 days your skin will begin to peel and this normally lasts for 3-5 days. Your skin should be fully healed within 10 days.
Obagi Blue Peel Aftercare
Following an Obagi Blue Peel we recommend patients avoid UV exposure and use a sun protection cream (SPF 50) daily. We advise patient not to pick loose skin as this may cause scarring and we advice the avoidance of make-up until the skin has healed.
Cost: from £400 – discount available when booked as part of Obagi NuDerm treatment.
