Laser and Intense Pulsed Light
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a breakthrough skin treatment which can correct many skin problems such as rosacea, sun damage, birthmarks, acne scarring, port wine stains, fine lines, wrinkles and thread veins. It is a highly effective pain-free and safe procedure with minimal downtime. IPL improves skin tone by stimulating collagen production and clearing many blemishes on the skin.
IPL uses short wavelengths and is non-invasive. Rapid light pulses are emitted via a hand-held device, absorbed by lesions and red veins, converted to heat which then destroys the lesions and blood vessels. All of our lasers have special ‘chill tip’ technology which minimises redness and skin damage.
Whitethorn Fields MediClinic consultants will advise on the number of individual treatment sessions required to achieve the desired results; as well as discuss any concerns that you may have. IPL is not appropriate for anyone who is pregnant, has fake, natural tanned, or sunburnt skin, or any area affected by a cold sore.
IPL Skin Rejuvenation
IPL rejuvenates superficial and deep layers of the skin, providing beneficial thermal energy to deep tissue. Significant results can be seen after just four sessions including a noticeable reduction in unwanted hair, pigmentation, evened skin tone, faded freckles and redness in rosacea and acne. Skin should always be protected from the damaging effects of the sun, and it is recommended that you should use a sun protector factor lotion (SPF) of 25 – 30 every day. This remains the case on IPL skin rejuvenated skin to ensure the beneficial effects last longer and the skin retains its new smoother, revitalised complexion.
IPL treatment covers the entire face rather than a limited area for an overall pleasing aesthetic result. In addition it can be used on the neck, chest and hands, producing a more youthful looking skin. Patients may prefer a pre-treatment of topical anaesthetic to aid any discomfort.
